Position Overview
The Electrical Designer at Aqua-Chem is responsible for the electrical design/drafting of controls, power supplies, and full electrical panels, for skid-mounted equipment for water treatment processes. The successful candidate will work under the direction of senior Engineering Designers, Engineers and/or the Engineering Manager. They will design the control panels, contents, and wiring of the skid systems.
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Location: Knoxville, TN | On-Site
Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:
- Complete assigned design/drafting tasks accurately and on time.
- Read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to determine instrumentation and equipment requirements.
- Generate designs for electrical control and power panels in accordance with UL508A.
- Create wiring schematics and diagrams
- Assist with Facility Acceptance Test (FAT) with walking down equipment and generating “As-built” design drawings
- Generation of Bills of Materials for assemblies and components of PLC systems, wiring, control and power panels.
- Perform engineering changes and provide change notices when required
- Check the work of other designers
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Experience:
- Associate degree in a designer/drafting related field preferred, with concentration in Electrical design a plus, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in the design of control and power panels in accordance with UL508A
- 2+ years’ experience in the design of electrical systems for instrumentation and controls used in skid-mounted process equipment desired, water treatment process equipment a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical in the generation of electrical designs
- Practical insight into the manufacture of electrical installations.
- Work requires some active physical exertion on the shop floor and detailing as built drawings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and other application software with the ability to learn additional application software when required.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Able to work overtime as required
