IT Support Specialist

The IT Support Specialist at Aqua-Chem will assist with System Administrator responsibilities. This role is critical in supporting day-to-day IT operations, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, especially in environments handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic manufacturing setting and be comfortable working across both commercial and government-related IT systems.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Onsite; Knoxville, TN
Pay Range: $23.00-30.00/hr, Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:
IT Support (End-User & Desktop Support):
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Support users with Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and common business applications.
- Maintain asset inventory and assist with lifecycle management of IT equipment.
- Document support requests and resolutions in the ticketing system.
System Administration:
- Administer Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure.
- Perform routine backups and disaster recovery testing.
- Maintain and patch servers, endpoints, and network devices.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Support compliance with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC requirements for handling CUI.
- Assist with vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and audit readiness.
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures.
- Participate in incident response and remediation efforts.
Networking & Infrastructure:
- Assist with the configuration and maintenance of switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and support VPN access for remote users.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers as needed.
Project Support & Documentation:
- Participate in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Education/Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in IT support and/or system administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC).
- Experience with backup solutions, endpoint management, and basic networking.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Able to work overtime as required
