Project Engineering Manager

Position Overview
The Project Engineering Manager at Aqua-Chem coordinates and manages all technical activities of the designated projects that are assigned to the Engineers on their staff. They will perform a variety of engineering assignments to assist and expedite the development of products, components, and processes. He or she will be responsible for technical knowledge related to assigned products and for providing the required technical support from their staff.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Onsite; Knoxville, TN
Pay Range: $101,000 - $163,000 | Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:
- Assumes the leadership role on technical tasks of all projects and ensures compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Must possess thorough and relevant product knowledge.
- Uses and follows established, well-defined procedures, carries out engineering assignments associated with design or development of specific parts, components, or minor phases of an engineering project.
- Ensures that all design requirements are completed on time and to specification.
- Ensures all customer requirements and specifications are met.
- Ensures engineering changes are performed in accordance with procedures.
- Assists in the training and mentoring of less experienced department personnel.
- Establishes product design review schedules, such that compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements/specifications are met.
- Identify product design improvements that improve material/manufacturing costs.
- Resolving issues such as design problems, incorrect component application, and non-conformance problems.
- Coordinate and manage all technical activities of the designated projects that are assigned to the Engineers on his/her staff
- Provide and manage staffing plan to support the needs of the business
- Interfaces with internal departments to resolve design, procedure, and/or quality issues.
- Controls design expenditures on projects and ensures that the profit margins are within the quoted/budgeted margins.
- Perform assessments of the skills and technical knowledge of team members within your assigned area ensuring team members are equipped to be successful and skill sets are aligned with organizational goals.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
- May be required to manage individual engineering projects as acting Project Engineer to fully support the business.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, from a fully accredited University. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ engineering experience related to managing or leading a department responsible for product design, manufacturing engineering or related experience.
- Five (5) years’ experience related to mechanical design and/or engineering
- Two (2) years or more experience with the design of skid-based equipment systems, preferably within the process water or wastewater industries.
- Previous experience with ISO 9001 procedures.
- Good interpersonal skills, leadership ability, and customer interfaces.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Licensed Professional Engineer a plus
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills working within teams
- Must be able to manage a team with the understanding of tasks at hand.
- Must possess thorough and relevant product knowledge
- 5% travel may be required
- Able to work overtime as required
